A Message from Sister Anne Cunningham, C.P.

During our 2002 General Assembly, the Sisters of the Cross and Passion received an invitation from Father Ottaviano, Superior General of the Passionist Congregation to collaborate with them in their initiative to enrol at the United Nations as an NGO.

The Sisters gathered in the Assembly responded to this invition with enthusiasm passing a resolution to join with them as partners in this mission.

The world in which we live and work calls us to look for new ways of living out our charism as Passionist women, many of whom are working alongside people whose lives have been threatened and diminished by the values and structures of present day society.

We are challenged to encourage marginalised people to become shapers of their own future. By participating with others we endeavor to change unjust structures, social enequality, world debt, globalisation and the destruction of our planet. As women we are drawn in particular to the empowering of other women.
We draw our inspiration and strength from the love of Christ for all peoples which enables us to be agents of change in our world. We believe our efforts to bring about this change will be enhanced by joining with our Passionist Brothers in the cause of justice and peace that goes to the heart of our shared charism.
